Evangelization

Evangelization means bringing the Good News of Jesus into every human situation and seeking to transform individuals and society by the divine power of the Gospel itself. At its essence are the proclamation of salvation in Jesus Christ and the response of a person in faith, which are both the work of the Holy Spirit. It is always be directly connected to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Light. ‘There is no true evangelization unless the name, the teaching, the life, the promises of the Kingdom and the mystery of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God are not proclaimed’.

Saint John Paul II (Pope), in his Encyclical on missionary activity, summed up the three objectives of Mission:

  • To proclaim the Gospel to all people
  • To help bring about the reconversion of those who have received the Gospel but live it only nominally
  • To deepen the Gospel in the lives of believers

“We use the word ‘evangelization’ because it’s ‘gospel’ – ‘Go & Spell to people’ and ‘bring them to the Church of the Lord and make them to practice the teachings and norms of the Catholic Church’.

We have the following reasons to bring non-Christians as well as non-Catholics to Catholicism.

  • We believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. We take literally the words of Christ as found in the Gospel (John 6:53-56, 58).
  • The history reveals through Scripture, tradition, the Fathers and the ecumenical councils that there is one, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. This is the Church which Jesus Christ founded upon which the Holy Spirit descended on the day of Pentacost. This is precisely the Church which Jesus Christ has commissioned to be His voice and His presence in the world.
  • We respect and embrace the teachings of the Church on the gift of salvation. We say “gift” because Saint Paul wrote, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them” (Ephesians 2:8–10).
  • We believe in the communion of saints. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith” (Hebrews 12:1–2).
  • So many are ignoring the Mother of our Lord. We came to understand why she is loved by hundreds of millions of people. Truly, Mary is venerated because she is the Mother of God. Christians believe that Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity. They believe that Jesus is God Incarnate. They believe He had an earthly mother from whom He received His humanity; therefore, Mary is the Mother of God. Not Mother of God the Father nor of the Holy Spirit but only the Mother of God the Son, Jesus Christ. Mary’s life, her Faith, words, and actions, are to be carefully studied and adhered to by every follower of Christ. Because she is the perfect role model for all.
  • Catholic Church has proven history since Jesus Christ, commencing from Peter the first Pope and Pope Francis, the current Pope and the line of succession of popes will incessantly continue with the passage of time. The detailed history of each Pope is maintained by the Catholic Church and it is available at various sources including archives and Vatican library of the Catholic church for the interested and inquisitive readers.
