11.180 God’s Promises of healing to the afflicted one

Ways to receive God’s Healing power

11.180.2 Imparting blessing, authority and healing by Laying on of Hands.

In the Spiritual realm, the act, the laying on of hands normally signifies one of the possible things.
1. The person laying on hands may thereby transmit spiritual blessing or authority to the one upon whom hands are laid.
2. The person laying on hands may thereby acknowledge publicly some spiritual blessing or authority already received from God by the one upon whom hands are laid.
3 The person laying on hands may thereby publicly commit to God for some special task or ministry the one upon whom hands are laid.
4. Ordained people has authority to lay hands over people to impart ‘ordination’. In the Church, the laying on of hands is performed in the sacrament of Holy Orders and is the means by which one is included in one of the three major orders: bishop, priest, or deacon. Ordination can be administered only by a Bishop in Apostolic Succession, and should only be accomplished by a bishop who is properly authorized by the Holy See.

All the above purposes may be combined in one and trying to see the Biblical back ground of ‘laying on hands’.

Old Testament Precedents

In Genesis 48:14 we read how Joseph brought his two sons (Ephraim and the teaching legacy to his father Jacob to receive Jacob’s blessing: Then Israel [Jacob] stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
This passage shows plainly that it was an accepted practice that the blessing of Jacob should be transmitted by laying his hands upon his descendants’ heads; and, furthermore, that the greater blessing was transmitted through Jacob’s right hand and the lesser through his left hand.

Prayer: Abba Father, I humble myself before your Presence. What a joy it is to come to You. I thank You and I praise Your infinite Majesty. Please forgive me of all my sins. Lord I come to you in my emptiness. I want to worship you and adore you, to love you with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul and with all my strength. I need You, I am nothing without You. I ask You to raise me before Your Grace and Glory. Shine Your light upon me, allow me to walk with You and always do Your Will. Protect me and bless me O Merciful God. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, grant me peace, love and joy. Heal me, bless me and sanctify me O Lord; make me a blessing for all those around me. I pray by the name of Jesus.
