Misplaced trust.
(Continuation from yesterday)

Trust the Lord with all our heart

Ecclesiastes 3:1  “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.”
Psalms 118:24 “The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.”

Yes, today is the the day the Lord has made for us to trust our God wholeheartedly.

How to Trust our God wholeheartedly?

1.   Don’t Depend on us

We live in a world where trust must be earned and seems to be in short supply. But Solomon, the famous king who wrote Proverbs, knew that trust is exactly where we must start: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5)

Most of us have faced disappointments, which have taught us that we can only depend upon ourselves. But living the life God has called us to means unlearning that lesson. Instead, we’re meant to rest in God’s understanding.

We may know in our minds that He possesses all wisdom: “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” Romans 11:33

If you’re having trouble surrendering through prayer alone, try for a good confession by imagine yourself literally laying them down at the feet of the ‘Heavenly Father’.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective

2.  Surrender ourselves to God and change worry to worship.

When you realize that there’s supernatural strength available to you from above, then your perspective on life will change.

Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Romans 6:13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me

You can move from worry to worship by realizing that God is in control of every circumstance in your life

Let Him be the Master of you and of everything in your life.

Once you stop trying to do things in your own strength, God will take over and lift you to new heights.

3.  Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

Your thoughts are extremely powerful and they can affect things like your mood, your attitude, and yes, even your actions.

Mathew 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

So when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts that are bringing you down, start thinking about positive scriptures that will lift you up.  

You can do this by committing to memory a favorite scripture.  For example:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

 Keep repeating that positive verse out loud, like this one from Proverbs, until your negative thoughts are replaced with God’s peace that transcends all understanding.

Philip 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

4.  Cry out to God

Surrendering to God begins with our lips and our thoughts. We need more than a commitment to depend on Him; we need to cry out to Him to show that dependence.

Proverbs 3:6 “in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”

When we pray, we admit that His ways are higher than ours. We show that we’re leaving our troubles and burdens and dreams in His capable hands. In fact, the Bible promises that when we reach out to Him in prayer, He hears us:

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

Psalm 31 is a Prayer to Trust in God…

Prayer: Abba Father,  You are my God and Lord, You are the God of impossible. I want to trust in You than my own ability. Teach me to face difficulties in my life from Your perspective. Help me to focus on You and Your power. I want to be like Joshua and Noah who believed and focused on You even in the hard circumstances. My responsibility is to carefully read, trust, and obey Your Word. Today I bring before You all my difficulties of my life. Help me not to fear but to trust You in this situation. I declare my faith in Your ability to fulfill Your promises to me. You will fight for me and win the battles in my life. You are mighty, powerful, righteous and true God. I pray by the name of Jesus. Amen
