How to overcome rejection?

III. *Overcome the spirit of rejection. *
(Continuation from yesterday…)
The Bible is filled with examples of those who overcame rejection. In their lives of each one, let us see the keys to overcome rejection.

Leah
Leah experienced rejection from her father Laban, her sister Rachel, and her husband Jacob. (Genesis chapters 29-30) She felt great pain but she overcame.
1. She began focusing on God’s faithfulness and His intentions to her.
2. She moved her eyes to knowing who she was in God.
3. She found the solution in her relationship to God who showed her the value He placed on her, blessing her with many sons and one daughter.
4. She could recognized and received God’s love.
5. She overcame the struggle of rejection and lack of love to focus on what she did have and God was her provision and sustained her through it all.

Noah
He was mocked by the whole world, yet did not change his mind to disobey God.
(See Genesis chapters 6-9
1. He stood firmly in God’s plan, and it was worth the struggles that he and his family endured.
2. He and his family were saved through their focus
3. He had great hope
4. He was faithful.
5. He made a way for a pure generational line to be present on the earth so that the Messiah could be born from it to save us from our sins.)

Joseph
Joseph experienced rejection from his brothers who threw him in a well, and he ended up in slavery, and then the dungeon.
1. We see no evidence that he ever wavered in knowing God’s character, intentions, plans, promises, and provision.
2. He ended up second in command as the ruler in the land of Egypt
3. His focus enabled Him to see God’s plan through his affliction.
4. Focus to God enabled him to walk in mercy and forgiveness for his brothers. He saw the big picture in how the affliction brought increase.
5. Genesis 45:5 “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.”

Psalm 27:10-14 “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Prayer: Abba Father, I ask You to hear my prayer and to listen to my cry for help. Lord I know that I am not worthy to approach Your glory, but I know that in Christ I may come boldly to Your throne of grace, to find help from You in time of need. Lord I am in a time of need now… and ask Father that You would deliver me from all my enemies and from those that are seeking to harm me. Lord I trust in You and I know that You are mighty to save and Your Word promises that You are faithful and true. Lord, deliver me from this fleshly mindset that has swamped the heart of Christ, from Whom I gained such joy and peace. Lord I kneel before You broken-hearted and truly sorry for all my sins and rebellious ways. I want to turn away from all these fleshly lusts and look to Jesus, Whom I know is the only secure Deliverer from all that I have become so embroiled in. Thank You that even though I have proved so faithless You have remained Faithful and True. Cleanse me and wash me with Your precious blood and renew me with Your Holy Spirit, I pray by the name of Jesus. Amen.
