LEARN and PRACTICE the WORD of GOD

Reasons for Stress and Solutions

Impatience is stressful so ask God for the gift of patience.

Hopelessness is one of the reason for stress and Hopefulness is the key to overcome it.

What is hope?

Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: “expect with confidence” and “to cherish a desire with anticipation.”

Patience brings hope. It brings a continued renewal of belief in our desired goals and in the heights we are striving to achieve. When we are hopeful, we have a natural resilience and willingness to keep trying because we trust in the possibility of a good outcome.

God has given us incredible promises. If you are running low on hope, go to the Bible to recharge!

Patience brings hopes and hope assures an everlasting life because :-

1. Christ is the Hope

Colossians 1:27 “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

1.1 Hope of the Glory of God

Romans 5:1–2: “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have [or: let us have] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God [or more literally: we rejoice in hope of the glory of God].”

1.2 Rejoice in hope of the glory of God

Let’s focus our attention on the last several words of verse 2, “We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”

Let us try to unfold three wonderful truths in these words.

  1. First, the glory of God is very great.
  2. Second, the glory of God is a sure hope in Jesus Christ.
  3. Third, the hope of the glory of God fills the heart with joy and exultation.

1.3 Power in the hope of the glory of God

First — and here is where we will spend most of our time — the glory of God is very great. Basically it is that the mere hope for it, not to mention the having it, fills the believer with exultation. The other is that it is God’s glory, and God is very great!

God has been very good to us in the New Testament by giving us many different ways of seeing the greatness of his glory.

Find the following and experience the hope in the glory of God Jesus.

1.3.1 The light of the gospel of the glory of Christ is the image of God

2 Corinthians 4:4 says “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” The gospel is the “gospel of the glory of Christ.” And this glorious Christ is “the image of God.” So the glory of Christ that we see in the gospel story of his life and death and resurrection is the glory of God. God stands forth from the history of his Son’s life and from the preaching of this greatest story in history. His glory shines through the gospel.

1.3.2  Hope of the glory of God is Eternal

God shows that his glory is very great by saying that it is eternal. Romans 11:36: “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” The greatness of God’s glory is seen in the fact that it will never end. It is great in durability and permanence.

1.3.3. Hope of the glory of God is not worldly

1 Peter 1:24–25 says, “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord abides forever.”

Flesh in that verse simply refers to all that is not spiritual. All the accomplishments of natural man are like grass and all their glory — engineering glory, architectural glory, artistic glory, electrical glory, atomic glory, computerized glory — all our greatest human glory is like a dandelion ball compared to God’s permanent glory.

1.3.4. Hope of the glory of God’s power can’t include in words.

God shows the greatness of his glory by speaking of its might and power. Colossians 1:11 says, “May you be strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory.” And 2 Thessalonians 1:9 turns it around and speaks of “the glory of his might.” The point is not very different: the glory of God shines forth in great power, and the power of God exhibits itself in great glory.

If you want to conceive of the glory of God in its proper proportions, dwell on the scope of God’s power. How great is the power of God when Isaiah 40:12says he “measured the seas in the hollow of his hands . . . and weighed the mountains in scales”; and when Daniel 4:35 says, “He does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand, or say to him, What doest thou?” And when Hebrews 1:3says, “He upholds the universe by his word of power.” God is exceedingly powerful beyond all imagination, and his power is only one expression of his glory. Therefore his glory is very great.

1.3.5 Hope of the glory of God demonstrated with Jesus’ resurrection.

He makes the greatness of his glory known by telling us that it was by his glory that he did the greatest acts of power and love in history. Romans 6:4says, “We were buried with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father. If the resurrection is a great thing, if the eternal hope of millions hang on this great deed, then the glory of the Father must be very great. For it was the glory of the Father that burst the bonds of death and brought life and immortality to light.

1.3.6 Hope of the glory of God has invaluable and immeasurable richness

God presses the greatness of his glory on our minds by referring again and again to the wealth or riches of his glory. Romans 9:22–23 says, “What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the vessels of wrath made for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for the vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory?” God compares his glory to wealth and says that the ultimate purpose of all history is to make the greatness of that wealth known to the vessels of mercy prepared for glory.

Prayer: Abba Father, You reach into the darkness with hope, truth and light. Your Hope provides patience to us. Stretch out Your strong hand in our lives, hold and rescue those who calls You. I believe Your son Jesus, only one who redeem us, restore us, heal us, protect us and save us. There is nothing higher, stronger or greater than Your love.  We trust in you. You are my Comforter, Counselor, Redeemer and Protector. Jesus You are my Hope, have mercy us me. Our hope is in You. We praise You, love You, adore You and glorify You. Fill us with the gift of patience and hope. We pray by the name of Jesus. Amen
