LEARN and PRACTICE the WORD of GOD

The personality of God

God is a living God – He hears, sees, knows, feels, wills, acts, and has a personality.

11.180 God’s Promises of healing to the afflicted one.

11.180.6 Inner wounds and healing.

Physical wounds means a wound on outer part of the body of a person. Similarly, Inner wounds means wounds in soul and/or spirit and/or emotions. Inner wounds do more damage on a person than outer wounds, because it can not be seen and is not easy to diagnose.
Remember, we do not have control over our future. We can’t change our past. But we have control over present thoughts, views, action etc. Most important thing is that we must control the present movement of our mind.

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
If we can identify the source of the inner wound, it would be easy to prescribe the medicine!

11.180.6.1 Emotional Triggers.

Emotional triggers involve our feelings and thoughts.
Inner wounds develop through bitter words spoken by others or self or anger, hatred, abuse, disappointment, rejection, self-pity, financial struggles, a divorce, or criminal charges, or may be a loss of a loved one, or feelings of anger, depression or anxiety etc. Once, a person is wounded internally, then it will affect their sleep, routine job, appetite, intellect, knowledge, day-today-decisions, free will, goal, targets, communications, relationship etc.
Thoughts can be another trigger. ‘Self-creating questions and answers’ is the most dangerous things in a person on this subject. Controlling thoughts is a key to success in their life. Remember – *all thoughts based triggers are avoidable, * there are things you can put in place in your life to ease the difficulty when facing a trigger or sudden temptation.
Part of our recovery is living life a new way, God’s way! Let us try to see few solutions to come out of these wounds…

1 Submit to God.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Successful recovery requires submitting our mind, soul, and spirit to God and resisting the devil. To submit to God you need to be making an effort to find out God’s will for your life and do it. Firstly, declare that we submit mind, soul, spirit and heart to God Jesus Christ.

2 Pray!
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Prayer helps us to stay on God’s path and not fall into temptation. The Bible also tells us to pray without ceasing. God is with us always! We have direct access to him at all times of the day or night. The bible is clear that He cares about us and wants to help us with our struggles. So talk to Him!

3 Stay accountable to a Godly mentor.
Proverbs 11:14 ”Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory.”
Being accountable to a sponsor or Godly mentor is crucial to our recovery because we can’t do this alone. Call your mentor when you encounter a trigger or temptation. Call them to help process emotions or get advice and ‘obey’. This person can share truth with you, help guide you, pray for you and more.

4 Change your lifestyle.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Old habits are like a comfortable bed. Easy to get into, hard to get out of. To avoid or cope with triggers, you’ll need to replace some old habits and activities with new ones. This includes avoiding circumstances that have proven to be hazards. The most important way to change your lifestyle is growing your relationship with God. This is done by devoting time daily to prayer, reading the Bible and staying in fellowship with other Christians.

(To be continued…)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You came to heal our wounded and troubled hearts. I beg You to heal the torments that cause anxiety in my heart; I beg You, in a every possible way, to heal all who are the cause of sin. I beg You to come into my life and heal me of the inner harms that struck me in my early years and form the injuries that they caused throughout my life. I forgive all of them and I ask your pardon. Let your divine Word ‘ I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, -declares the LORD’ transform to our inner wounds and heal us. I pray by the name of Jesus. Amen
