11.180 God’s Promises of healing to the afflicted one

*Ways to receive God’s Healing power. *

11.180.3 Imparting blessing, authority and healing by Laying on of Hands.

New Testament – Ordinances for Healing. (Continuation from yesterday)

Jesus Himself authorized in His final commission to His disciples to lay hands upon the people.

Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Here the laying on of hands in the name of Jesus is appointed as a means whereby physical healing may be ministered to those who are sick.
There are different purposes for which laying on of hands according to the precepts and examples of the New Testament.

1. *Laying on of hands for physical healing. *
2. *Laying on of hands to impart the baptism in the Holy Spirit. *
3. *Laying on of hands to impart spiritual gifts. *
4. *Laying on of hands to send out Christian workers from the local church.*
5. *Laying on of hands to the appointment of deacons or elders. *

The first of these purposes is directly associated with the ministry of healing. ‘Complete Healing’ means Physical healing, Inner healing, emotional healing and spiritual healing.

In James 5:14–15 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

The ordinance here appointed is that of anointing the sick with oil in the name of the Lord. Both of these ordinances alike are effective only through the exercise of faith in the name of the Lord Jesus. In the case of anointing with oil, it is specifically stated that prayer must accompany this act. When anointing the sick with oil, it often seems natural— indeed, almost instinctive—to lay hands upon them at the same time. In this way the two ordinances are combined in one – ‘Prayer’ and ‘laying hands’.

Prayer: Abba Father, thank you for loving me and for calling me to come closer to you; Thank you for never giving up on me even if I have often strayed away from you. For the many times you have been faithful to your promises despite all my unfaithfulness, sins, failures, and weaknesses. Thank you for your concern for my spiritual life and for planting in me this desire to draw closer to you. Thank you for your healing mercy and forgiveness for the many ways. Search me, O God, and help me see the areas in my life that need your healing love and mercy. Design in me a clean heart. Give me the grace to put you as first priority in my life at all times and to turn away from sin or occasions and influences that lead to sin. Teach me to pray and give me the desire to pray as often as I can. Lift me up when my prayer seems dry and empty when I feel as though my prayers are not being heard. Strengthen me with patience and perseverance when trials and obstacles make me feel like giving up. Guide me in the right path that leads only to you. And dearest Lord, draw me near to you always, and let my spirit be filled with your power and healing presence. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
