2. Jesus must become greater; I must become less.
John 3:30-36 He must become greater; I must become less.” he one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
What is the meaning of Jesus is greater and we must become less?
1. Putting God first is realizing it’s all about Him.
Our every breath is to go back to Him. Our every thought is to be for Him. Everything is about Him. This proves that we are obedient to Him and we belong to Him.
2. Everything in our life is to be directed to Him.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
3. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength
Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
Matthew 22:37 “Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
4. Everything is from him and by him and for him
Romans 11:36 “Everything is from him and by him and for him. Glory belongs to him forever! Amen!”
Colossians 1:16 “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”
5 God chose you and you haven’t chosen Him. It’s all because of Christ!
John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
6. Apart from Him, we can do nothing
John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
7. Humble yourselves before the Lord
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Prayer: Abba Father, You are Creator of the Universe. You are the Alpha and Omega. I submit myself into Your hands. Let Your will be done in me. Whatever You may do, I thank You, I am ready for all, I accept all. You know me better than anyone. You are my God and Lord. You must increase and I must decrease. O Lord, I submit my spirit, soul and body in Your might hand. I offer it to You with all the love of my heart, for I love You, Lord. Use me as an instrument for Your kingdom. I exalt Your name, the name above all name. I pray by the name of Jesus. Amen.
